HI Would anyone out there be willing to tutor me through the process of importing data from a Excel Sheet into blackthorne? I have exported a copy of my current listing into a Excel spreadsheet so I have a basic idea but have questions on what is vital information and what can be left out. I use a customized Ad Template also so I'm wondering if by putting in the Ad Template name does that take care of many of the other data columns that appears on the spreadsheet. Any help would be soooo appreciated!! Thanks!! |

You have 3 options to get you started. Go to the HELP option in BT - user guide and search for import. There are step by step directions there. You will be importing from a flat file if you want to use Excel. I use Excel and then save the file as a txt tab delimited file. You can also save as CSV. Sally (who frequently posts here) has a great guide for free. Do a search on this board - the URL is somewhere. Sally also has a business helping people so if you want detailed hand holding, she's the person for you. A third option is to search this board for key words such as IMPORT EXCEL BLACKTHORNE. I know I have written instructions before - they are still out there somewhere. People on this board will help you when you run into problems but you need to do a little searching and reading first. By the way, the Ad Template name cannot be used as an input field for each item (has been asked for but not yet implemented). When you import, you have the option to specify the ITEM Template you want to use for ALL items in the import and that ITEM template can have the Ad Template you want to use. The quickest way to find the fields available for import is to click FILE, IMPORT, IMPORT FROM FLAT FILE and select the file you just exported (AFTER you convert it to CSV or TXT). The bottom part of the import screen shows all the fields which can be imported. Highly recommend that your import file column headings MATCH the BT field names. Makes life a lot easier. Do a little reading, give it a try then post back with issues. If I am on the board, I can try to help but will be off the boards for 2 weeks starting tomorrow. |

CORRECTION - I just checked and it looks like the WONDERFUL BT developers have added Ad Template as a field to import. Don't know when they added it. I just recently upgraded to the new version and have not yet explored all the changes since I was focused on the CONDITION "enhancement" process. Glad you asked or I may have missed that!!! |

I responded to Tammy's email - but I'm going on vacation & won't be able to help her for a couple weeks; if any of you others wants to offer to help her, I recommend using Teamviewer (.com)'s free version to connect remotely on each others' computers.
