BEEN HAVING SOME PROBLEMS SCHEDULING/UPLOADING LISTINGS. THIS FUNCTION USED TO WORK FINE. I WOULD SIMPLY SCHEDULE THE ITEMS TO BE LISTED AND THE LISTING WOULD MOVE OVER THE THE "MONITOR LISTINGS" TAB AND SIT THERE UNTIL IT WAS SUCCESSFULLY LISTED PER THE SCHEDULED TIME. NOW, WHEN I TRY TO SCHEDULE/UPLOAD THE LISTINGS INDIVIDUALLY OR BY A GROUP IT EITHER 1) TAKES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TIME 2) TAKES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TIME PLUS DOES NOT SCHEDULE/UPLOAD ALL THE LISTINGS OR 3) TAKES A TREMENDOUS AMOUNT OF TIME PLUS DOES NOT SCHEDULE/UPLOAD ANY OF THE PICTURES THE LISTINGS THAT DO NOT WORK STAY IN THE "CREATE ITEMS" TAB WITH A ITEM STATUS OF "LISTING FAILED." WHEN I CHECK THE ACTIVITY LOG IT STATES: ITEM ID (NUMBER HERE) FAILED TO SUBMIT. NOT ALL PICTURES WERE SUCCESSFULLY SUBMITTED. PLEASE ADVISE. I HAVE BEEN HAVING THIS PROBLEM FOR NEAR TWO WEEKS NOW AND IS BECOMING VERY FRUSTRATING. |

I suppose you are using EPS - eBay Pictures Services or eBay Picture Manager? Time to 'move on'. See the latest comments here. http://www.blackthornesw.com/cgi-bin/discus/show.cgi?5259/65818 There are other similar threads in the past. About pics not uploading when eBay is the host. |

Read the Picture Host info in the User's Guide. I've plugged my own host countless times here but there are many others. Google 'picture hosts', 'FTP sites', 'picture storage'...whatever. Just don't go with photobucket. |

WHAT IS YOUR PICTURE HOST? ALSO, NOW I JUST SELECT PICTURES FROM MY C: DRIVE. WILL MY SELECTION PROCESS BE MUCH DIFFERENT? |

1) Please turn off your cap lock. Hard to read for this "old lady". 2) Do you have your own domain? If so, you can host there without any additional fee as you are already paying that on a monthly basis. 3) Bam's site of choice is pair.com and he has a link in his listings. I host on my own domain. 4) Selecting pictures from your C drive will remain the same. Your listings will still show the same local path. However, once you correctly set up an ftp accessible picture host, Blackthorne is smart enough to upload those pictures for you. You can also opt to use a 3rd party ftp client, should you wish. 5) Besides the cost savings and not having to deal with eBay's servers being busy when you want to start an item, you also have the benefit of deciding when - if ever - your images are deleted. Blackthorne allows you to manage your images and when to delete them from your host and your computer. Cindy tom*cindy*stone

...WILL MY SELECTION PROCESS BE MUCH DIFFERENT? Not at all. The same local C: drive paths are still used. Nothing changes except the 'Picture Host' assignment. Away from EPS to a 'PH' created for the site you will be using. The necessary settings are provided by the host. With a new PH pics are sent to this site instead of eBay. Within the actual eBay listings pics would be exactly the sizes and quality as those on your hard drive. Not modified by eBay and in the positions you chose (the Ad Template Options tab). And, of course, no pic fees when using multiple pics. My host is pair.com. This pair link is in my eBay listings. http://promote.pair.com/direct.pl?bamcards+71549 On the site, click 'web hosting' for a list of plans. The FTP or Basic plans are fine for eBay sellers. There might be cheaper hosts but none can claim better service. For many years now many eBers continue to use pair. I believe the $20 sign up fee can still be avoided by entering 'refugee' on the sign up coupon field. Whatever, IMO, don't sign up with photobucket. |

I do up to 400 ebay auctions a month. How much space do I need to sign up for? |

Dana, How many pictures do you use with your listings? Do you resize them so that they smaller than your original source? Most of the ideas mentioned give you enough storage under most circumstances. And if you run out, you can always upgrade to more. But the basic plan is usually more than enough for a typical seller. I know that I have over 2000 images in one spot (folder on my domain host) and it is probably less than 200 MB. Blackthorne does not host per se but facilitates the transmission to a host or location of your choice. Cindy tom*cindy*stone

Cindy, I am told that eBay and Blackthorne both know of the problem. So... before I make a major change I am gonna give it a little time to see if they are gonna figure it out. Otherwise I will probably go with a PH. Thanks |

Except to decide on a service and plan and getting the settings to use with eB, there isn't a major change to how eB records are created or pictures added. After creating the eB 'Picture Host' a Bulk Change of 'Picture Host' would update all eB Items. Then a bulk manual upload of pics (of old Items). And later as new listings are submitted to eBay, either manual bulk pre-upload or automatic upload. The same action as is done now using eBay Pictures. The PH change wouldn't necessarily change any running listings. These remain as is unless you chose to replace the eBay hosted pics with copies now at the new site. Like any path you haven't been down before it may seem a daunting trip. But it's not only a permanent picture solution but a better one, even if/when eBay pic service works ok. |

Monday/above I suggested time to 'move on'. And some info was provided on the necessary steps to make this change from eBay hosting to 3rd party hosting. Other recent threads, including one earlier listed, have gone into more details exactly how to set up the eB 'Picture Host'. The email fix from Support was their attempt to solve the EPS problem. To make a direct contact with BT Support you can use the form at Help-Support-Contact Support. I can offer no particular info on that or what else to do regarding using eBay as the host. From experience I know that almost everyone who has switched from eBay to a separate host are glad they did...usually wished they had made the change earlier. |
